Medical applications
Disect is a networked viewing system for radiology files, specifically developed for in-theatre procedures, single and multi-site clinical team meetings, and networked medical training and education. Designed to run on a standard laptop for convenience and portability, or a desktop workstation for a superior viewing experience, it delivers a highly cost effective solution for stand alone applications as well as networked applications in which users at different locations are interconnected via existing networking facilities.
The PC basis of the viewing station delivers a significant cost saving (potentially ten fold or more) compared with a high-end workstation in the radiology department, or a PACS terminal, yet its high performance implementation delivers a similar suite of powerful viewing capabilities. It exploits the existing availability of suitable PCs throughout the hospital, and multiples of these stations can be interconnected over the hospital's network allowing clinicians to share radiology files and synchronise image manipulations.

In the above photograph Mr John Parry of Ipswich Hospital is performing a laparoscopic partial nephrectomy aided in-theatre by Disect.
